A potentiometer is a knob that can be used to change the voltage in an electric ukulele to change its volume or sound. The regulator contains an adjustable resistor that divides the voltage in the device.

In electro-acoustic ukuleles, these controls are part of the control panel of the pickup and can also be designed as a slider or rotary wheels.

On mixing consoles and other devices, potentiometers can also be found as buttons.
