In der Musik die im 19. Jh. auf die Klassik folgende Epoche. Die Gitarren wurden in dieser Zeit erheblich größer (deshalb entstand die klassische Sitzhaltung mit einem Schemel unter dem linken Fuß) und vielseitiger. In dieser Zeit verbreiteten sich unter Gitarrenspielern die Techniken des Apoyando, Legatobogens, Vibrato und Rubato. In der Spätromantik wurde die Klangfarbe als neues kompositorisches Grundelement entdeckt.
