AB is a binary (two-part) song form. The first part (A) often ends on the dominant, the second part (B) on the root note. Other binary forms are AA and AA'.

Songs consisting of repeating, melodically unchanged verse and chorus and the folia, popular in the Baroque, are built in AB form.
