Legato belongs to the field of articulation and designates a „bound“ style of attack. In the score, legato is represented by a slur between the corresponding notes. The following is important:
The
string should not be dampened by anything.
The fingers of the
fret hand hold the strings for the entire duration of the note.
The thumb of the gripping hand is behind the
neck to support the fingers.
The transition from one sound to the next should take place without interruption. This can achieved with an
ukulele by playing
pull-off or
hammer-on.
The notes to be played are held out as long as possible.
