A lead sheet contains the melody of a piece in the usual musual score with chord signs marked above the staff and (in the case of songs) the lyrics beneath the staff. Thus, the lead sheet indicates in a simple format how to play melody and harmony of a piece (cf. chord sheet). Lead sheets are frequently used for chord-melody.
