Portrait of Cliff Edwards, Betty Brewer, and Frank Raye, Ukelele Lady (yacht), Hudson River, N.Y., ca. June 1947

He started out early as a bar singer, accompanying himself on the ukulele he had taught himself to play. Since 1919 he recorded on records. In 1929 his Singin 'in the Rain became the hit of the season. Since that time he also appeared in many films. Later, he beat himself as a voice actor and spent his last years in poverty and oblivion. Edwards' music contributed significantly to the popularity of the ukulele. He served various styles such as Dixieland Jazz and Hawaiian music.
