I do not allow „lefties“ in my classroom. No ukes are tuned backwards. No Hendrix or McCartney in my world. I tell the kids that the left-handed students are the fortunate ones because all the tricky stuff we do on the uke is with the left hand.

I always teach right-handed as this avoids complications when delivering lessons to a large group. Orchestral stringed instruments are always played the same way round and no provision is made for left-handed people. In fact, there are some advantages in the initial stage. The left-handed person has their stronger hand doing the difficult job of fretting chords.
