Sunday Manoa

Peter Moon (ukulele, slack guitar, vocals) and Robert Cazimero and Roland Cazimero (guitar, bass, vocals) appeared since 1969 as Sunday Manoa with sensational, influenced by rock recordings of Hawaiian music to the public. Her first record Guava Jam (1969) took some production effort, as Moon was initially unable to play ukulele very well, and his Hawaiian pronunciation was also flawed.

The old school didn’t like these new “rock ‘n’ roll”-like arrangements, while the new school were simply incorporating everything from the California sound to folk rock from the East Coast, but done in a way that was not disruptive to the true meaning of the songs.1)

Only the second album Cracked Seed (1972) was a great success. Overall, the band produced four albums before it broke up. Their influence on the rebirth of Hawaii music, however, was tremendous.
