Looping refers to the use of loops by musicians.

Loop

Loop

In pop music, a loop is a musical sequence that is recorded and then continuously repeated by the recorder (looper). Loops are primarily used to accompany a melody, e.g. as rhythms or bass accompaniment. The playback can be distorted by effects such as delay, reverb, etc.

Live Looping

If a loop is not recorded in advance but only played (live) during a performance, recorded and played back, this is called live looping.

Live looping allows a musician to accompany himself to a piece of music during a performance. He can also play or sing to different instruments.

Overdubbing

Overdubbing refers to the mixing together of different soundtracks recorded separately. Such tracks can also consist of loops.
