Bill Tapia was from Honolulu, Hawaii and started playing the Ukulele as a child. He became one of the best known representatives of Hawaiian music. In 1937 he played the ukulele part in Bing Cosby's hit „Blue Hawaii“. After the Second World War he turned to the jazz guitar. Only in 2001 did he return to the ukulele and celebrated successes with Jazz interpretations.
